Beyond Algorithms: Search and the Semantic Web.. Should semantics be eliminated all together? The web is full of information and a simple tool in locating what it is you are looking for. The problem is that the information needs to do something for its users. For example, Google does a good job at showing key words as you type in the search bar that have already been located by other users. This is helpful because it filters out the unneccessary information one might find in the clutter of the data. According to the content, the web is starting to get to know who is asking the questions and can therefore provide more reliable data. This seems to be very useful but how does this help locate the information out there that one cannot get by using a search engine.
Writing web content for a living ties in with the filtering of unneccessary information. Web writing is a form of story telling. The writer is addressing an impatient audience and needs to keep the reader interested. Deciding whether to use text, photo, or video to tell your story is highly important. I agree with all four panelists in that, collaboration is vital in delivering the best product.
